Our Name Is: Bowls Oxford

Our home is the Oxford WMC Complex
160 High Street, Oxford

About Us :.

Bowls Oxford is situated in the country town of Oxford. Nestled at the base of the Oxford foothills in the Waimakarri District of New Zealand's South Island (Canterbury). Oxford was originally named after the city of Oxford, England, when it was thought that a university would be built here.  A wonderful place to vist. See Experience Oxford for more information about the town.

The perception of Lawn Bowls being a game just for Granny and Granpa couldn't be more wrong. In New Zeland we have an active secondary schools programme and Bowls Oxford welcomes both men and women players of all ages, abilities, experienced or total beginner's. Coaching is available to all members if required.

Our membership ranges from school children to the retired and we also have two wheelchair bowlers.  Both our Men and Women club members have won many titles at various levels. We have many players (Men & Women) representing Malvern and Canterbury at all levels: Youth, Junior and Senior. Our two wheelchair bowlers represent Canterbury and the New Zealand Disabled Bowls team.

It doesnt matter whether you want to play bowls for recreation or serious competition. This great game is all about Fun, Skill and People. Come along and Have a go at Lawn Bowls. Don't own a set of bowls, no problem, we have spare sets for you to use.

Our Vision :.

Lawn bowls is a game that can be played by people of all ages and abilities.
Our vision is to:

  • Encourage and offer the opportunity to as many people as possible to get out onto the bowling greens of New Zealand.

  • To host a variety of bowling tournaments and encourage participation from within the Christchurch and North Canterbury Region.

  • To offer support, advice and any assistance we can to attract people to this wonderful social sport.

  • Give accurate information and informed advice in all aspects: membership, coaching, sports equipment and any funding facilities available to them.

  • To produce the best teams we can at all levels of bowling.

Goal Pathway:.
